Departments
The City of Hopkins is managed through seven departments, each with a department head that reports to the City Manager. Each department is in charge of several different programs.

Administration
The City Manager is responsible for executing the policies adopted by the City Council.

Assessing
The assessing department assists property owners with Homestead classification and works with Hennepin County on property valuations.

City Clerk
The City Clerk serves as the point of contact for most city business license and permits.

Community Services
These divisions comprise the Community Services Department.

Finance
The City of Hopkins Finance Department is responsible for maintaining the accounting system, and monitoring compliance with the budgetary controls and financial policies established by the City Manager and City Council.

Fire
The Hopkins Fire Department will provide quality fire response, prevention services, emergency medical, hazardous materials and emergency preparedness that make a positive difference every day.

Inspections
The Inspections Department is a division within the Community Services Department.

Police

Public Works
The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining the City's infrastructure, buildings, equipment and open space, and for providing services to meet other essential needs of the City.

Recreation
Since 1967, the Cities of Hopkins and Minnetonka have jointly planned and provided community recreation for their residents.
