In 2022, the City of Hopkins began a planning process to enhance its park system to better meet community needs. This comprehensive effort identified five key themes:
- Racial Equity
- Park Accessibility
- Gathering & Community Building
- Parks for All
- Quality
Following the completion of the planning process in 2023 and 2024, Central Park was chosen as the first site for improvements with an emphasis on sustainability. The Hopkins Central Park Improvement Project will revitalize the park to fit the needs and wants of the community, providing a space that all can enjoy.

Community input and engagement
Community involvement and feedback throughout this project has helped the City develop a clear understanding of how to best redevelop this part to meet community needs and desires. As we finalize the park plan we want feedback that the plan meets community expectations.
