A Night in the Andes Mountains Event is Tonight

The City of Hopkins invites you to immerse yourself in the sounds and dances of the Andean culture at the Hopkins Activity Center tonight, November 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The Andes Mountains traverse seven countries in South America, where the Incan Empire once flourished. Today, the descendants of the Andes civilizations continue to preserve their cultural heritage and are a testament to the resilience and creativity of its people. Join us for this free, bi-lingual event featuring live music, cultural performances and delicious food. No registration required. All are welcome. Turkey Bingo with the Hopkins Police Department is November 9

The Hopkins Police Department is hosting Turkey Bingo on Sunday, November 9, at 1 p.m., at the Hopkins Activity Center. For $20, play 10 games for the chance to win amazing prices worth $50-$100 each game. Raffles for gift cards to local businesses will be held between games. Refreshments will be available for purchase. The 18+ event is cash only. All proceeds will go to the department’s Cops N Community programs.


Yard Sign Recycling Drop-Off is November 12-26

Now that the 2025 election season has wrapped up, check with the campaign to see if they are collecting yard signs for reuse. If the yard sign can’t be reused, yard signs can be dropped off at the Minnetonka/Hopkins Recycling Center, 11522 Minnetonka Boulevard, from November 12-26, 2025. The signs will be brought to Choice Plastics, where they will be turned into pellets and then recycled into new material.


Central Park Open House is November 17

Come out to Hopkins Pavilion on Monday, November 17, from to 6 to 8 p.m., to learn more about elements of the Central Park Master Plan. There will not be a formal presentation – come anytime during the event to speak with project staff and give your input. Learn more about the plan on the City website. 


Free Leaf and Yard Waste Pick-Up Extended Through November 20

Free fall leaf and yard waste bag pick-up will be on your regular garbage day October 20 through November 20. If you live in the Bellgrove, Hobby Acres, Park Ridge and Interlachen Park neighborhoods, leaf and yard waste will be picked-up using front-end loaders and dump trucks November 10 through 14:

  • Bellgrove: Monday, November 10
  • Interlachen Park: Wednesday, November 12 (Meadowbrook Road up to and including Maple Hill Road)
  • Park Ridge: Thursday, November 13
  • Hobby Acres: Thursday, November 13
  • Interlachen Park: Friday, November 14 (Interlachen Road up to but not including to Blake Road)

New 2026 Concerts Announced at Hopkins Center for the Arts

Hopkins Center for the Arts members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the first round of 2026 concerts on Tuesday, November 11:

  • Sierra Hull + The Milk Carton Kids on February 13
  • The Lone Bellow on March 6
  • Los Lonely Boys on April 25

The Friends of Hopkins Center for the Arts Members' Musician Spotlight & Music Night will feature musician and HCA dear friend Kelly Blau on Thursday, November 13. Members must pre-register to perform at this 21+ event. From 6 to 7 p.m., each performer will have a 15-minute slot, maximum of one spot per performer/group. A local musician will finish the evening out from 7:15 to 8 p.m. Cash bar, coffee and concessions available for purchase. Suggested $5 donation at the door. Open mic performers will receive free admission.


Hopkins Community Connection Project

The Hopkins Community Connection Project wants your feedback! The Community Connection Survey is collecting resident thoughts, experiences, and ideas related to engagement and belonging in the Hopkins community. All residents – including youth – are encouraged to participate to inform future programs and opportunities in Hopkins. More information about the project can be found on our website.

Two in-person visioning sessions will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and 4 to 5:30 p.m., at the Hopkins Pavilion. This will be a space to share experiences in the Hopkins community and imagine ways to become more inclusive, connected, and engaged with fellow residents. Light refreshments and activities for children will be provided. Youth are highly encouraged to participate.


Energy Assistance Available

Community Action Partnership of Hennepin County’s Energy Assistance Program can help pay your utility bills between October 1, 2025 and May 31, 2026. If you’re an eligible applicant, you may receive a grant paid directly to your utility provider that reduces your expenses. Learn more and apply online.
