Community Garden Kick-Off Event is May 11

Join the City of Hopkins for a FREE, fun-filled morning at the fourth annual Community Garden Kick-Off event at the community gardens in Valley Park on Saturday, May 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. Community partners offering gardening advice, free giveaways and more include Hennepin County Master Gardeners, Hopkins Community Education, Route 1 Farms, Hopkins fire and police departments, the Hopkins Park Board, Hopkins Public Works, the Hopkins Activity Center, and the ICA Food Shelf. And returning this year: free coffee from the No Milk coffee cart! The event is open to all, no registration is required to attend.

Police Department Open House and Kick-Off to Summer Safety Event is May 18

The Hopkins Police Department is holding an open house and Kick-Off to Summer Safety event on Saturday, May 18, from 11 a .m. to 2 p.m., at the police department, 1010 First Street S. This free, family-friendly event in conjunction with Mainstreet Day will feature a Ninja Anywhere obstacle course, jail tours, food trucks and more. Live demonstrations will be held at noon and 1 p.m.

Mainstreet Day is May 18

Mainstreet Day, the annual arts and craft festival sponsored by JCI Hopkins, will be held Saturday, May 18, on Mainstreet in downtown Hopkins. The event is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will feature more than 140 participating arts and craft vendors offer a variety of homemade items, including jewelry, woodworking, photography and fine art, clothing, toys, garden decor and more. JCI Hopkins reinvests all proceeds from Mainstreet Day back into the Hopkins community to support programs and projects such as Bowling with the Bunny, Little Free Libraries and the Cops 'N Kids Shopping Program. Find more information about Mainstreet Day.
