West Metro Home Remodeling Fair is February 26

Looking for ideas or tips for your next home remodeling project? Stop by the West Metro Home Remodeling Fair between 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 26, at the Eisenhower Community Center. The fair features a wide variety of exhibitors with products and services related to home improvement, including remodeling contractors, architects, landscapers, financial lenders and more. Save the Date: Summer Recreation Registration 
Begins March 7

Summer recreation program registration begins on Tuesday, March 7, for general recreation, Thursday, March 9, for senior programs and Tuesday, March 21, for ice skating. Visit minnetonkamn.gov/register to browse program options and choose from an array of activities including summer camps, swimming lessons, skating lessons, fitness classes, arts and crafts, athletic leagues and senior programs. 


We're Hiring! City Seeking Youth Program Coordinator and Community Connectors

Youth Program Coordinator: The City is hiring for a temporary position assigned to coordinate youth activities and youth workforce development programming. 

The person who fills this position will work an estimated 20 to 30 hours per week from April 3 through May 31 and 30 to 40 hours June 1 through August 10. Hours will be a mix of traditional business hours and occasional nights and weekends for youth events, with some flexibility over the duration of the position. Some remote work will be allowed. 

The ideal candidate is someone with a passion for mentoring and coaching youth and developing programming with and for youth. 

Community Connectors: The City is hiring for two part-time positions that intends to meet the following City goals: 

  • Evolving a stronger relationship between community and local government;
  • Helping build power of underrepresented communities most impacted by barriers to public engagement and increasing participation in meaningful and inclusive public engagement;
  • Supporting a shifting culture of how city government engages with community in decision-making; and
  • Serving as a bridge for continuing dialogue, advancing racial equity, and surfacing the ideas, concerns, and dreams of community members.

This position will be an ongoing commitment of eight hours per week, which will include regular office hours with the community and every other week check-ins with City staff. This position is likely to be a mix of regular business hours and night and weekend work. 

The ideal person for this has established relationships with Latinx or East African residents in Hopkins and is comfortable bridging relationships between these groups and the City.
